Daae Kim is a foreign attorney at Peter & Kim in Seoul and represents clients on a wide variety of international commercial and investment treaty dispute. Daae has acted as counsel in arbitrations conducted under the auspices of various institutions, including the ICC and SIAC, as wells as ad hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL arbitration rules. Her practice includes disputes involving breaches of contracts, shareholder disputes, private equity, construction, pharmaceuticals, and insurance.

In addition to her international arbitration work, Daae regularly advises clients in public international law and international trade law matters.
Daae’s previous legal experiences include working as a legal intern at the ICSID Secretariat in Washington D.C. and at Shearman & Sterling LLP where she assisted International Arbitration team in Singapore, and working as an intern to The Honorable Charles N. Brower, an independent arbitrator.

  • Counsel to ten insurance companies in an ad hoc arbitration concerning claims for insurance proceeds in connection with the failure of a key equipment in a coal-fired power plant.
  • Counsel to in an ICC arbitration seated in London concerning claims arising from a supply contract for the delivery of feed water heaters in relation to development of a power plant in Saudi Arabia.
  • Counsel to a private equity consortium consisting of four financial institutions in a long-standing shareholders dispute involving the investors’ exercise of a put option.
  • Counsel to an engineering company in an arbitration arising out of a consortium agreement concerning the development of a coal fired steam power plant project in Indonesia in a SIAC arbitration seated in Singapore.
  • Counsel to the Republic of Korea involving investment treaty claims brought by Iranian investors under UNCITRAL Rules.
  • Regularly advises clients and the Korean Government on issues relating to investor state disputes (ISD) and international trade law matters including WTO dispute resolution.
